SEU JORGE & ALMAZ
Seu Jorge first came onto our musical radar with his appearance in Wes Anderson's film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He lit up the screen with his his acoustic guitar covers of classic David Bowie tunes like "Life on Mars" and "Rebel Rebel." Jorge's latest project, Seu Jorge & Almaz, is a far-out rock group which explores the fuzz and grooves of 1960s and '70s Brazilian psych, rock, and tropicalia. Signed to Now-Again Records (a subsidiary of Stones Throw) The group just wrapped up a tour of the U.S. and Canada and took this Burlesque-designed poster on the road with them. We actually printed up a brand new exclusive Burlesque-only version on Relic Gold paper (the tour version had yellow ink printed on black paper), making this one unique and exclusive to our online store! Summer is here! Thousands upon thousands of music lovers descended upon Middle Tennessee for the annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and this year looked to be bigger and better once again. Where else can you watch Stevie Wonder, Conan O'Brien, LCD Soundsystem. Jimmy Cliff. Aziz Ansari, John Fogerty, The Flaming Lips, Weezer, Ween, and Young HOV all in one weekend in the same square mile? Nowhere else, we tells ya! Nowhere!

FLATSTOCK "ROCK PAPER SHOW" PRINT
Flatstock might just be the best event organized for / by / and of screenprinted poster artists. Held several times each year, Flatstock brings together dozens of print artists setting up booths to sell their rock show posters, art prints, t-shirts, and other creative goods to music and art fans wandering through.

Now that Flatstock has seen its 20th get-together, the folks behind the event have released a book entitled "Rock Paper Show" about the event and its artists. GAYNGS
Minneapolis' indie-rock supergroup Gayngs made their live debut at First Avenue last weekend at the much-hyped "Last Prom on Earth," a CD release for their album "Relayted." Comprised of members of Bon Iver, Solid Gold, Doomtree, Megafaun, Roma di Luna, and all stitched together by Digitata / Building Better Bombs' Ryan Olson, Gayngs creates smooth and sultry adult rock... it's sort of like being stoned while on a yacht.

Check out their fantastic cover version of Godley & Creme's "Cry."

The Last Prom on Earth was bananas - hundreds upon hundreds of Twin Cities rock and leisure enthusiasts dressed up in '80s prom wear to sway to the sounds amidst custom cocktail napkins and a balloon and confetti drop during Gayngs' last song. As if that wasn't good enough, Prince (yes, THAT Prince) was in the building and was standing backstage ready to join the band onstage for a guitar solo. Why didn't he come up to rock with them? "You didn't need me," he told Gayngs.

MY MORNING JACKET

Mike designed the artwork for a vinyl reissue of "Feelin' Kinda Patton," a live recording from one of Burlesque's favorite standup comedians, Patton Oswalt. Our friend Dan at Standup! Records commissioned the job for his label and also had us screenprint the LP jackets.

SOLSTICE FESTIVAL 2005
Wes unearthed a pile of posters he designed and printed for the Square Lake Solstice Festival all the way back in the summer of 2005! The festival is held outdoors and showcases local and regional filmmakers and rock groups. The movies are projected onto the side of a barn from a film projector positioned up in a windmill. "Serious Art" comes from the minds of the terrifically talented Hardland/Heartland art crew from Minneapolis, comprised of Aaron Anderson, Eric Carlson, and Crystal Quinn. BROTHERMAN
He's the pusher who became a preacher... The story of Brotherman is one only told through music, as the soundtrack to this 1975 blaxploitatiion was recorded but the film was never produced, causing the music to be lost for decades. Chicago music archaeologists The Numero Group dug up the recordings, released them on CD and LP and asked Burlesque to create some '70s-inspired, authentic-looking artwork for it. We asked our friend, rising art star and watercolor painter extraordinaire Michael Gaughan to help out and contribute his talents to the project. Mike Davis put the final typographic touch on this design before we deemed it to be superfly and ready to be printed as a commemorative art print!

JEWBILEE 2007
Oh, what to do when you're Jewish on Christmas Eve and everyone else is at home drinking eggnog and singing Christmas carols? In Minneapolis, you meet up to eat Chinese food, listen to DJs, get drunk, and do karaoke. This Twin Cities phenomenon, known as Jewbilee, has opened its doors to non-Jews, making it essentially the best party each December 24th. Mike got to spin some music at this one and also designed the poster. It's a '60s-inspired grid of holiday imagery for all.

GAY BEAST
Gay Beast: Wicked Gay! Super Beastly! It's the best of both worlds: a ridiculous poster (by Wes and Mike) for a superrad band (Gay Beast). You've seen them featured on our earlier work for AIDS Wolf, and, after that bunch of boisterous posterness, Gay Beast asked if we could make them a tour poster with lots of colors and their name written really big. MEL GIBSON AND THE PANTS
I (Wezz) can't for the life of me get over the name "Mel Gibson And The Pants". Like are they trying to make things difficult for themselves? Because they play the fuck out of a show and work really hard on making good music. But then you're stuck thinking of ol' brave passionate road warrior of jesus and his slacks. Anyway, they asked us to make a poster for the release show for their new album "w/ guitar" so Mike Davis and I had a Heavy Session™ of model glue filled turkey basters and 70s wrestling magazines. When our studio mate Brian Severns opened the door to the office after 72 hours, through the haze, he was faced with this masterpiece.
