Get Cryphy 4 year anniversary

Our good friends Plain Ole Bill, Jimmy 2 Times, Last Word, and Fundo are gearing up for the big 4 year anniversary of their monthly DJ night and major rap party GET CRYPHY. Over the last several years, they've built up their brand of rowdy rap-related anthem mixing into a household name, revered as many as some of the finest DJs in the Twin Cities. Burlesque has been down since day 1, creating all of the visuals for the crew, printing t-shirts, and even guest DJing at their parties.

Wheatpasting Demo at Franklin Art Works

We were recently invited to lead a hands-on wheatpasting demonstration and install our own wheatpasted mural at Franklin Art Works in the Phillips neighborhood of Midtown Minneapolis. If you've never been over there, we strongly recommend it. At one time an enormous movie theater, the building has been fully renovated and converted into a contemporary art exhibition space, but the original 1916 theater screen and all of its Art Nouveau ornament still remain hidden in the back of the building. Anyways, Wes and I decided we would use bits and pieces of our test prints and other found paper to create a large portrait of Wendell Phillips, an abolitionist, fighter for the people, and the namesake of the neighborhood.

Twin City Lines miniprint

Lately, Wes has been doing a lot of research on the history of Minneapolis, specifically on the stories behind some of our favorite buildings - such as First Avenue - and our city's features which are no longer around - such as the city's rapid transit railroad system.

New print for Dosh's 2011 Cedar Cultural Center concert

Yesterday we debuted our newest screenprinted concert poster, created for our friend Dosh's annual winter concert at Cedar Cultural Center. Read More

Dosh at Cedar Cultural Center
Artist: Mike Davis

Our friend Martin Dosh is a man of many musical hats. He's an in-demand drummer, providing the rhythms for local BRLSQ-favorited rock outfit Cloak Ox as well as nationally-renowned artist Andrew Bird. As a solo artist, Dosh has taken a unique approach to creating and performing music. Surrounding himself with a drum set, keyboards, and a whole slew of musical toys and effects pedals, he builds layers and layers of lush Fender Rhodes chords, noodly synthesizer patterns, angelic glockenspiel notes, and intricate drum beats.

Zebulon Pike: Space is The Corpse of Time
Artist: Wes Winship

Our favorite instrumental metal band is back with a new full length album entitled Space Is The Corpse of Time. This Minneapolis-based group of heavy riff rocksters brought on Wes Winship to design this posters marking the release of the record. Wes really went in on some intense analog psychedelic color effects to achieve that cosmic voyage effect. These six-color screenprints are hand-embellished, with Wes adding some watercolor details to each poster. Signed and numbered edition of 175 prints.

Wait, you've never heard Zebulon Pike before?
